“Who promised you fair?” was a frequent quip of my high school civics teacher. I finally answered in 2002 when I formed Fair Share Consulting: I do. Since starting this communications practice, I strive to uncover and amplify what is true and earned by clients. This is both challenging and rewarding. Regardless of client size, industry or assignment, we always learn something and in turn, do our best to deliver excellence in a way that is honest and fair. I’m Melanie Engerski, founder and principal of Fair Share Consulting, Inc., based in Austin, Texas. Before this, I was a partner and senior vice president at FleishmanHillard in St. Louis, Singapore and Austin. I began my career in the fighter aircraft, information and missile systems units of what is now The Boeing Company after graduating from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Since then, I’ve worn many hats, including those as a board member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) Austin-San Antonio chapter, award­ winning president of the Austin NIRI chapter, a member of the Securities Transfer Association and an active supporter of local organizations that serve the hushed, the hungry and the homeless.
